COMPLETE YOUR AUDITION FORM

PM&L Theatre and director Darius Russelle are pleased to welcome actors of all  ages, colors, and genders to audition for our production of  Hello, Dolly! 

Auditioners must have completed their online audition form and reserved an audition slot before arrival. Audition forms and slots can be scheduled on a walk-in basis but are preferred in advance.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 23, and Monday, June 24, 2024, at PM&L Theatre, located at 877 Main Street in Antioch, IL. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, June 26. Each auditioner will audition in groups of up to 5.  A one-minute comedic monologue is required as well as at the minimum 16 bars of music sung from ” Hello Dolly” is suggested. If one feels more comfortable to sing a song from another show that is similar to ” Hello Dolly” that will be accepted.

Please familiarize yourself with the material as a reading from the script will be a possibility during the general auditions. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday June 26th at 6PM by invitation only. Be sure to have this day and time slot available in the event the Director decides to call you back.

Hello, Dolly! will open Friday, September 6, 2024 and will run for 3 weekends until Sunday, September 22, 2024.

About the Show

Hello, Dolly! is a musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder‘s 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1954. The musical follows the story of Dolly Gallagher Levi, a strong-willed matchmaker, as she travels to Yonkers, New York, to find a match for the miserly “well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder.

Cast of Characters

Dolly Levi: Matchmaker, widow, meddler, opportunist, life-loving, commanding, strong stage presence. Vocal range: alto-soprano. Dance ability: some.

Horace Vandergelder: Well-known half-a-millionaire, widower, owns the Feed Store, gruff, set in his ways, authoritative. Vocal range: baritone. Dance ability: some.

Cornelius Hackl: Head clerk at the Feed Store, energetic, enthusiastic, and adventurous. Vocal range: baritone. Dance ability: fair.

Barnaby Tucker: Assistant to Cornelius at the Feed Store, naïve, energized, follower. Vocal range: baritone. Dance ability: fair.

Irene Molloy: Owns the Hat Shop, widow, beautiful, smart, fun-loving. Vocal range: soprano. Dance ability: fair.

Minnie Fay: Irene’s assistant, naïve, straight-laced, fresh, follower. Vocal range: mezzo-soprano. Dance ability: fair.

Ambrose Kemper: Struggling artist, good-natured, accommodating, wants to marry Ermengarde. Vocal range: tenor. Dance ability: fair.

Ermengarde: Horace’s niece, whining, high-strung, wants to marry Ambrose. Vocal range: any. Dance ability: fair.

Miscellaneous character parts: will be cast from the chorus. This production calls for 8 leading roles and a fairly sized ensemble that is present throughout the entire show. All ages, colors, and genders are welcome.
